This 1/2oz silver round features Ganesh, who is one of the best known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu religion. Ganesh is thought to bring good luck and is revered as a remover of obstacles. He is also the patron of arts and sciences and, as the god of beginnings, is often honoured at the start of rites and ceremonies.
Ganesh can be easily identified by his highly decorated elephant head and is often portrayed standing, dancing, sitting down on an elevated seat or playing with his family as a boy.
The obverse of this silver round depicts Ganesh sitting holding a lotus flower in one hand and an axe in another hand. The Baird & Co. motif is featured on it’s reverse. The Baird & Co. 1/2oz Silver Ganesh round is minted from 999.9 fine silver in their London refinery.
