Gold Coronation Half Sovereign 2023
This coin has been released in celebration of the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
The obverse of the Coronation Half Sovereign features the official crowned coinage portrait of His Majesty the King and was designed by British sculptor Martin Jennings. The portrait received the monarch’s personal approval for the design.
The Coronation Half Sovereign marks the return of Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic St George and the Dragon design, which was created for the sovereign’s revival in 1817. Many people consider the Sovereign as the “chief coin of the world”.
