2oz Silver Australian Kookaburra Mother and Baby Coin Design
The reverse was designed by Natasha Muhl and features a mother and baby kookaburra, with rays of sunshine in the background. The baby kookaburra has its mouth open, seemingly signalling that it is hungry.
The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mint mark is positioned on the right-hand side, with the designer’s initials appearing directly below it.
The Obverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2020 year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on each coin’s obverse.
These coins are quite beautiful and are individually encased in a hard plastic capsule. A lovely addition to your collection or a unique gift for family or friends.
The Perth Mint Background
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 in response to the discovery of rich gold deposits in Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie. The heritage building was situated in the heart of Perth, the capital and largest city of Western Australia. It was Australia’s third branch of Britain’s Royal Mint – the others being the Sydney Mint and the Melbourne Mint (both closed). In 1970, the authority for The Perth Mint was transferred to the State of Western Australia. The Perth Mint gold and silver bullion coins have been issued as legal tender under the authority of the Australian Federal Government ever since.
