Coin Design
The reverse design of the Shaken Not Stirred 2020 UK Quarter-Ounce Gold Proof Coin features James Bond’s iconic tuxedo, representing the character’s elegance and timeless style. The famous phrase “Shaken Not Stirred” appears alongside the design, referencing Bond’s well-known martini order that has become closely associated with the 007 franchise. Incorporated into the background is the distinctive 007 gun logo, creating a clean and contemporary composition.
Designed by Matt Dent and Christian Davies, the coin was issued as part of The Royal Mint’s James Bond collection celebrating the legacy of 007. The proof finish highlights the contrast between the frosted design details and the mirrored background fields, giving the coin a refined and polished appearance. Certain editions within the series also featured hidden microtext containing the titles of James Bond films within the 007 motif.
The obverse features the fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, together with the £25 denomination.
