“Our ships were British oak and hearts of oak our men” Samuel James Arnold (1811 song – The Death of Nelson).
These two silver proof crowns commemorate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s death and the Battle of Trafalgar. The first coin was designed by James Butler, RA, and bears a portrait of Nelson wearing the uniform of Vice Admiral. The second crown depicts a design by Clive Duncan of The Victory in full sail, Nelson’s flagship.
Both crowns obverses boast Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of The Late Queen Elizabeth II.
