This coin was created to celebrate the birth of Prince George, the first born son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The reverse of the coin is the depiction of St. George and the Dragon, that was created by Benedetto Pistrucci and has been used on Sovereign coins since 1817. The obverse of the coin displays an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in the center, with “ELIZABETH · II D · G · REG · F · D FIVE POUNDS” around the rim.
