Britannia Facts
From their launch up until January 2023, these hugely popular, well loved 1oz Platinum Britannia coins have featured the delightful effigy of The Late Queen Elizabeth II on the coins obverse, designed by Jody Clark. A second Britannia design was released by the Royal Mint in January 2023 following the accession of His Majesty King Charles III, making it the first Britannia coin not bearing the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse of these coins will still proudly boast the classic Britannia design by Philip Nathan, while the obverse marked a big day in the history books with the handsome new King Charles III portrait by Martin Jennings.
