The reverse of the coin shows the conjoinment of the two coats of arms. The Royal Coat of arms, held by Elizabeth, is on the left. Prince Philip’s coat of arms is the one on the right. Prince Philips’s coat of arms is a mixture of very different origins. The top left quarter is derived from the coat of arms of Denmark, the top right corner represents the coat of arms of Greece and the country’s flag at the time, the bottom left quarter represents the House of Mountbatten (Philips maternal family) and the bottom right quarter is a representation of Edinburgh Castle to symbolise his title as the Duke of Edinburgh.
