This is the final design in the collection and features all ten Beasts arranged in a protective circle around HRH The Queen. It’s the only coin in the series to unite all ten beasts with the monarch whose heritage they represent in one unique design.
10kg Gold Queen’s Beast Completer Coin
As part of the minting process for this new coin, The Royal Mint also produced a special 10kg gold version. The Royal Mint said it took 400 hours to produce and four days of polishing.
Engraving machines at the mint’s site in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf, were used to cut the design onto the coin, which has a denomination of £10,000.
A master toolmaker then hand-worked the coin, removing any marks made by the cutting process before it was polished. The coin was then laser-frosted to texture the surface.
“The Royal Mint’s Queen’s Beasts commemorative coin collection has grown in popularity since the first beast was introduced in 2017 and has become a firm favourite amongst coin collectors across the globe,” said divisional director Clare Maclennan.
The Queen’s Beast Collection Concludes
The Queen’s Beasts are ten legendary creatures who symbolise the historic ancestry of Her Majesty The Queen. As a set of ten statues, each bearing the shield or crest of the family they represented, they stood guard outside Westminster Abbey in 1953 as the world watched Her Majesty’s coronation. The collection showcased the history and symbolism of each creature in turn, starting with the Lion of England in 2017.
As The Queen’s Beasts Collection, their mythical stories have been reimagined for the twenty-first century in a series of ten popular coin designs by the celebrated designer Jody Clark.
The Queen’s Beast series finally draws to a close and we’re delighted with The Royal Mint’s conclusion. We absolutely love the Queen’s Beast Completer Coin design and we think it’s an absolute must-have for anyone who adored the Queen’s Beast collection as much as we did.
